Experiencing Candidacy

Hello!. hehehe thank you koya sa napaka gandang intro sakin.. hehehe.. post na ko agad huh.. hahaha!

First of all I would like thank my koya noel and ate gaea for letting me post my blog in their site. Actually First blog post ko ito, hehehe, pero sana magustohan nyo.

Okay, Okay lets start… The Title of my First Blog is Experiencing Candicacy. It’s about my Supreme Student Government Candidacy in my school.(no need to mention the name of the school). It was February 14, 2008 when the old Supreme Student Government (SSG) will be replaced by a new set of officers and on February 15, 2008 the campaign for this new set of officers has started. First of all there are 3 political party in my school and there are the: ALAB party, PIGLAS party and K.S.P. All of these parties are composed of different characteristics of running officers and uses a very unique style of campaigning. This Year the ALAB party didn’t join the campaign because of lack of running officers and has no party manager to manage the party. And the very reason of their withdrawal from the said event, because K.S.P and ALAB party are more likely allies and has the same principle. Also they have the same objective, and that is to bring down the PIGLAS party. (I’ll explain later why)

(February 15, 2008) It all started when I was going to school after my lunch break with my friends talking about “DOTA”, then suddenly I run into a very good friend of mine, who was very anxious to see me. At first, he was very happy that he run into me, because he has a very bad problem. Actually this friend of mine is the Party Manager of the K.S.P (Kilos Sebastino Party), and his big problem is that he need a person that will run for the position “Commissioner on Academics” in SSG. And boom! He told me that I’m the perfect guy for that position. I’m very flattered on what he said, but I told my friend I’m going to think about it. It’s a tough job and one more thing, I’m a 3rd year college student and when the new semester starts I’ll be in the 4th year, and I think that in that year I’m going to be busy, because on that year my thesis and practicum will start. As I went home, I told my mom about it, she gave me an advice, she told me that it’s about time management, and responsibility at sabi nya “Kaya mo naman yan, nakikita ko naman sayo na magagawa mo ng oras ang pagaaral, kaibigan at laro, at ngaun, you just need to prioritize kung alin nga ba ang dapat mauna”. With those words, I was encouraged. Hmmmm.. I spend 6-7 hours of thinking in what will be my decision, and during those hours I didn’t notice that I’m already making my speech, hahahaha! (di ko talaga namalayan). When I’ve realized that, I texted my friend and said yes to his proposal.

(Let’s skip the speech making and group training, mas importante yung ibang part, hehehe)

During the campaign period I was so curious about the Party Rivalries. That’s why I ask my friend about it. Also during the process of knowing my opponents, I found the answers.

Here it is, The current officers of the Supreme Student Government of my school, was all PIGLAS party members..

Yes!, PIGLAS won all the sleight last year’s election. The rage of the three parties started because last year’s SSG is not that really good. And that year, the SSG wasn’t felt by all the students of my school. In other words “walang kwenta”. From what I’ve experienced (which is true), “Ang Student Government namin wala talagang ginawa nung buong term nila, puro pa cute na lng sa office nila, and pwomiz walang kakwenta kwenta ang mga projects” and to compare from their successors, mas ok talaga yung dati kesa mga officers ngaun kasi mas nakilala ang school namin sa kanila.

Because of that, ALAB and KSP made an alliance, not only to bring down the PIGLAS party but also bring back the glory in SSG. Because of this “nabuksan sa aking isipan sa mga mali na dapat itama.” The very thing that our group wants to point out, it that choosing the best leader to lead us is not just anyone you just saw. At least that person should posses not only the charm but also the intelligence and should also possess leadership quality. Just like our Party Manager have said during our “Meeting de Advanse” “Magtimbangan tayo tingnan natin kung sinu mas mabigat”. The PIGLAS party is the reigning leading party when it comes to SSG, it started 50 years and yet they still win. They choose officers that don’t have the things we’ve pointed out, PIGLAS uses, charm and physical appearance to select their officer. I’ve said this because, I’ve been loyal to my school since I was kinder, Yes, loyal ako sa school, nagaral na ko sa school na iyon kinder pa haggang ngaun, that’s why I know the people that PIGLAS chooses as a officer. I saw the selected officers ng PIGLAS na nung High School pa lang prohibition na. That’s why I know what’s gonna happen when they will win the election. One more thing during our Room to Room Campaign, they used memorized speech, and those speech are already used by officers na tumakbo pa nung 50 years na iyon. Yup, passed by generation ika nga. Grabe noh? And during the meeting the advance, kung anu na rehearse nung Room to Room, yun din ang pinakita nila. Huwaw talaga!.

Enough na sa Piglas, let’s talk about my Party. KSP or Kilos Sebastino Party, its just a newly started party, hmmm. It was founded last year lang. and the founder was one of the Greatest SSG President. That’s why all the officers chosen by this party has that quality. And has the potential to lead. I’ve been to the group’s training, and what I saw was a group of people that has the intellect and courage to win. That’s why todo ayos ako. I don’t want to be left out. Our Speech is made from the heart,(not memorized, hehehehe) and has the platforms needed for the for students. Our platforms is not for personal goal but it is for the privilege of the all the students of my school. During the meeting de advanse, we’ve proved that we have the qualities for being a leader, and during the debates of the running officers, we showed them that, running for that position is not just for fun and fame. It’s real hard work.

After the long campaign period, Election na.. and it’s the biggest scare of a candidate, because it’s the judgement day wether they’ve liked you or not. We stayed in school until the counting of ballots finish, we’ve waited for the result………..


But Sadly, as our Party Manager went to us to bring the bad news. We already know the result of the election, and its 21-0. Yes, PIGLAS got all the positions.. huhuhuhu!. Ni isa walang nanalo samin.

We went to the room where the counting of ballots where held, to see yung “lamang ng kalaban namin” and yun 50+ bawat candidates. Some of us just needed 3 and 13 votes to win. Very Frustrating talaga. Hayyyy.. And the president of the Electoral Board, approached us.. and pinakita yung tally.
We saw that we lost, because of the First Year Students. Yup, dahil sa mga first year, but yung years 2nd – 4th pure KSP. Yup, which only proved na sa higher years panalo kami, and minsan lang mangyari yun, because being in the higher year you know what really is happening around the school, what I mean is pinagkatiwalaan kami ng mga higher years. Because when you say First year(correct me if I’m wrong) di ba wala pa sila ganun kaalam sa politics. Pero saying parin. PIGLAS got the first year because of their charm and physical appearance, kaw naman ba guwapo at sexy yung mga lumapit sayo e, tatanggi ka? In the case of the first years, I think yes,. And also we have proofs kung bakit. Pero ganun parin LOST is a LOST. Hehehe..

For me, I really didn’t aim to win, Sanay naman na ako, kasi lagi naman ako talo, hehehehe, I just wanted to have the experience in being a candicate. Pinakita ko lang ang dapat. Just like what Rizal did to our country, to expose the wrong doings of the Spaniards during their time. And even though Rizal died, his works and achievement remains in the heart of every Filipino. Yup, now we’ve started our action, I hope it will continue. And I have one thing to say. “The Fight just already started” and for the winners of the election, GOOD LUCK!, now you’ve heard what the students is trying to tell you, sana you make action na. There is still time. “Make a change, minimize your greed” hehehe..

And for may Party, Thank you so much! I really learned a lot from them, and I hope its not yet over, “minsan lng sila pinagpawisan hehehe,” keep fighting. And I guarantee my support sa inyo, khit na 4th na ako. Hehehe go KSP!.
